Phil Thompson: Time for Fernando Torres to nail his colours to Liverpool FC mast
Fernando Torres 300[LNB]IT'S time Fernando Torres came out and nailed his colours to the mast. I'm getting as nervous as anyone about the rumours concerning the striker which are sweeping around the city.[LNB]We've all heard the talk about how he's unhappy and wants to move on.[LNB]I would like to hear Torres come out and make a statement saying it's rubbish and that he's fully committed to Liverpool.[LNB]Pepe Reina recently did that when there were reports suggesting he wanted to leave. He swiftly nipped that in the bud and insisted he was happy.[LNB] The fans want to hear Torres say that he really wants to be here. Questions are being raised and I'm sick of being asked about him. The only person who can provide the answer is Torres himself.[LNB]I know you can't respond to every rumour but speaking out now would do him good and ease fans' fears. Not saying anything just lets things fester.[LNB]We're a long way into the season now and we should be seeing the best of him. The 4,000 Reds supporters who sat in the freezing cold at Newcastle last weekend showed their passion for the club. They can accept a player isn't going to play well every week but they demand commitment.
