Phil Thompson: Man Utd boss Alex Ferguson's comments showed lack of respect to Liverpool FC

ROY HODGSON kept a dignified silence and didn't rise to the bait but some of Alex Ferguson's comments after our defeat at Old Trafford were ridiculous.[LNB]Ferguson embarrassed himself with some of the rubbish he came out with. For starters he accused Fernando Torres of trying to get John O'Shea sent off.[LNB]It was disgraceful to point the finger at an opposing player like that and he seemed to conveniently forget that his own player Nani was throwing himself around all afternoon like he was auditioning for a part in Coronation Street.[LNB]Ferguson also claimed United deserved to win by a much greater margin and described the defeat for Liverpool as 'a catastrophe'.[LNB] What utter tosh.[LNB]Liverpool Football Club is going through some hard times and this was Ferguson baiting the club and trying to rub our noses in it.[LNB]It's not easy to keep your counsel in that situation but it was dignified of Hodgson not to get involved.[LNB]He is the better person for it and it was good that one of the managers showed some dignity.[LNB]Ferguson should have more respect for Liverpool than that.
