11 April 2009 14:36
The voting for the PFA Fans' Player of the Year awards is well under way - but you only have until midnight on 13th April to register your nomination. It's certainly going to be a close-run thing in the Premier League where a host of top performers are vying to take the title won by 2008 Fans' Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo who, of course, is back in the running again this time around. So too is Liverpool's inspirational skipper Steven Gerrard, a three-time monthly winner this season - in September, December and January. Gerrard, along with Fernando Torres (February winner), has been instrumental in Liverpool's surging finish to the season, a run which could see them be crowned champions at home and in Europe. Tottenham's Aaron Lennon has been rewarded for his ever-improving form for Spurs who have been showing their true attacking colours under Harry Redknapp. Lennon has made his way back into the England team and his form has been such that he's even been keeping a certain David Beckham on the bench. Hull's Brazilian ace Geovanni makes up the group of monthly winners, as he made a huge impact in the early part of the season when the Tigers were roaring. The voting for the 2008/09 season for PFA Fans' Player of the Year award, across all four divisions, commenced on 1st April. Each voter has until April 13th 2009 12.00 Midnight to register his or her vote. The search for the PFA Fans' Players of the Year rises to a tense finish as the votes start flooding in for the top players voted by you the public.
