Peter Lim[LNB]THE son of a fishmonger, Peter Lim is a self-made man worth $1.5bn according to Forbes Magazine.[LNB]The Singapore-based investor put himself through college by working as a waiter and taxi driver before becoming a stockbroker.[LNB]In 1996 he gave up managing other people's money to become a full-time investor.[LNB]A $10m gamble on palm oil producer Wilmar is now said to be worth $1.4bn and forms the bulk of his wealth but he also owns stakes in fashion retailer FJ Benjamin, investment firm Rowsley Ltd, and brewery restaurant Brewerkz.[LNB] His interest in Liverpool is believed to have been stirred by his ownership of several Manchester Utd-themed bars in Asia which have persuaded him of the global money-making potential in the Premiership.[LNB]Mr Lim, 57, the father of two teenage children from his first marriage, lives with his mother and second wife, an actress, in an 11 storey condominium he bought.
