Parry laughs off rift talk

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has dismissed rumours suggesting co-owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks have fallen out over refinancing plans for the Reds.
Hicks and Gillett are working on a £500million refinancing package for the club but a weekend report claimed that "a major split" had occurred between the pair.
However, Parry said: "I've just spent a couple of days with Tom and George. Both of them were in good spirits, working hard together on their future plans for the club.
"I don't normally comment on these things, but on the basis of what I've just seen, the story in one of the Sunday papers claiming there was some sort of problem between the two couldn't be wider of the mark. In fact it's absolute nonsense."
A spokesman has also moved quickly to rubbish a report that Hicks is interested in launching a takeover of AS Roma.
Roy Winnick said: "There's absolutely no truth whatsoever in the rumour that Mr Hicks is even considering investing in Roma football club."
