European champions AC Milan have entered the race to sign Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o this summer.
The 26-year-old Cameroon international is also a target for Liverpool, having previously been linked with Chelsea.
However, the Rossoneri are now keen to lure Eto'o to the San Siro, having been thwarted in their attempts to bring Andriy Shevchenko back to the club from Stamford Bridge.
Rossoneri chief Adriano Galliani told Gazzetta Dello Sport: "We will ask Barca about Eto'o, but we don't know whether he's for sale.
"We'll look to open negotiations once the Spanish season is over on June 17. He's a player who appeals to both myself and our coach, Carlo Ancelotti.
"Eto'o remains our primary objective, but next season's squad will basically be the same as the group of players who have just ended this campaign.
"A few players might come in, one in midfield and one in attack, but we are in no hurry as we are fine as we are."
