Milan Jovanovic 300[LNB]MILAN JOVANOVIC today apologised for Liverpool's shambolic exit from the Carling Cup and admitted losing to Northampton Town was 'a catastrophe'.[LNB]The Serbian international scored his first goal for the Reds at Anfield last night but took no pleasure as Roy Hodgson's men were dumped out at the first hurdle by the League Two side 4-2 on penalties.[LNB]Only a late rally enabled the Reds to secure a 2-2 draw in extra time but Jovanovic pulled no punches as he said the performance had been unacceptable and the fans had every right to be enraged at the final whistle.[LNB]Though Hodgson made 11 changes to the side that had been beaten 3-2 by Manchester United on Sunday, he still named six full internationals in his line-up and Jovanovic said there should have been sufficient quality to see them through.[LNB] 'Catastrophe,' said Jovanovic. 'I am so disappointed. What can I say? It was a very difficult night for me, for all the players and the team. Of course we feel sorry for the fans.[LNB]'We know this is not Liverpool. It is very bad. I am so surprised by the performance. I have not got enough experience of English football but I didn't expect this.[LNB]'Northampton played a really good game. We played a bad game. We started very nice but I don't know why we lost the ball so fast or why we couldn't keep the ball.
