Mignolet reflects on impressive goalkeeping performance

Simon Mignolet was a clear man of the match in Liverpool's 2-1 win at Stoke City on Saturday, with two amazing saves that helped secure the three points that the Reds need in their attempts for Champions League qualification.

“That is why the keeper is there - to make saves in important moments and help your team out,” he said, reflecting on a valuable result.

“The feeling is even better when you win the game after all that. These two moments were important. It doesn’t really happen too often as you don’t score goals as a keeper, but it was something similar.

“This was a good feeling for me but I’m not really one who looks to myself or my own performance. It is about making sure Liverpool get in the Champions League because that is where we belong.

“We want to fight at the top both in England and Europe. We have to grind out results because we want that Champions League spot.”
