Messi tells Barca to bag Masch
Superstar Lionel Messi has urged Barcelona to sign Liverpool hardman Javier Mascherano, saying: "He has the quality to play for us."[LNB] The midfield enforcer has been the subject of prolonged transfer speculation this summer, with his future at Liverpool cast into doubt on a regular basis.[LNB]Mascherano has admitted that he would favour a switch away from Anfield, bringing to an end a three-year stay on Merseyside.[LNB]A move to Inter Milan, who are now managed by former Reds boss Rafa Benitez, has been widely touted.[LNB]However, no agreement has been struck and Mascherano turned out for Liverpool in their 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Sunday.[LNB]The transfer window remains open, though, and a deal could be pushed through before the August 31 deadline.[LNB]Spanish giants Barcelona, who have been linked with a move in the past, could be prepared to step up their efforts to land the Argentina captain.[LNB]Messi believes they would be well advised to table a big-money offer, as he feels his national skipper would be perfectly suited to the Catalan outfit.[LNB]"The 'little captain' would be a great boost for Barca," said the reigning World Player of the Year. "He has the quality to play for Barcelona and his character would fit in perfectly at the club."
