Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has admitted he would be interested in signing Sami Hyypia from Liverpool in the summer.[LNB] The veteran defender could be available on a free transfer at the end of the season and a number of clubs are reported to be keeping tabs on his progress.[LNB]McCarthy is looking to strengthen his squad after steering Wolves to promotion and he would like to bring in some experienced players.[LNB]"If Sami Hyypia was available and would consider coming to Wolves as a club who have just come up, then great," he told the Express and Star.[LNB]"If Sami is on a Bosman and we could talk about it then of course I'd be interested. But he's been linked with a quite a few clubs."[LNB]SupportMcCarthy has already started to think about next season and is confident he will be given the financial backing to make Wolves competitive.[LNB]"We've already started looking. We will get the support from Steve Morgan. I target the players and then chief executive Jez Moxey sees if we can get them to sign.[LNB]"Like every other club, we get reams of paperwork telling us of people who are available.[LNB]"We have the distinct advantage of being able to start (planning) now.[LNB]"But the play-offs don't finish until May 25, the Premier League doesn't finish until the 24th and the FA Cup final is on the 30th.[LNB]"So I don't think anything substantial will be done with the Premier League clubs until after then."[LNB]
