McAteer insists Tranmere were too quick to end his double act with Barnes

[LNB]Jason McAteer feels hard done by after getting the sack at Tranmere Rovers.[LNB]The League One strugglers axed boss John Barnes and assistant McAteer on Friday after losing 10 of their 14 games.[LNB]But former Liverpool midfielder McAteer said: 'It came as a bit of a shock to be fair, I think to the pair of us. I don't really think that we had a fair crack of the whip.[LNB] [LNB] Short-lived: McAteer (left) and Barnes have been shown the door[LNB]'I know some results might have suggested otherwise, but it was just disappointing. I think the chairman succumbed to the pressure off the fans. [LNB]'It hasn't really sunk in. I've had a couple of days to think about it. I think it was a poor decision.'[LNB] Les Parry will take charge against Stockport on Monday in front of the Sky cameras but the former physio has urged fans to turn up at Prenton Park rather than turn on their televisions. [LNB]He said: 'I'd love the fans to come in their droves.
