Maxi Rodriguez's heart beating fast ahead of LFC v Chelsea clash

Maxi 300 MAXI RODRIGUEZ is reflecting on the most significant day of his Liverpool career to date when talk switches to a subject that brings a huge smile to his face Whether you were at the Reebok Stadium last Sunday, watching the action unfold on television or listening on the radio, you will know the last five minutes were played out to an unrelenting soundtrack that paid homage to the little Argentine midfielder. You will, by now, know how it goes: to the tune of Buddy Holly's 'Heartbeat', the Kop or any section containing Liverpool supporters take glee in chanting: 'Maxi! Maxi Rodriguez runs down the wing for me!' So simple and catchy, it has become one of the Reds' most familiar chants and even though his command of English is still, at best, primitive, Rodriguez is genuinely bowled over by the sentiments behind it. 'Some of the other players explained the song that the fans sing for me,' he says. 'It means a lot to me they are singing my name, especially because I have not been here very long. It is very special to have your own song in such a short space of time.' But, then again, it is hardly surprising. Rodriguez is a player who clearly has bundles of natural ability and the fact he scored what could, in time, to prove to be a season changing goal against Bolton has boosted his popularity further. Should he build on it with more of the season in tomorrow's Anfield blockbuster with Chelsea, the esteem in which he is held will increase immeasurably and he is undoubtedly looking forward to the challenge. Yet he is rather more phlegmatic when asked to describe the moment he sneaked on to Fernando Torres' glorious back-heel and toe-poked a last-gasp effort past Bolton keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen to lift Liverpool out of the bottom three.
