The final Saturday of the 1992-93 season saw 47 goals in the Premier League.[LNB] With Manchester United already crowned champions and Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough consigned to Division One, there was just one issue left to settle on May 8. [LNB]Crystal Palace knew a point at Arsenal would preserve their status in the top flight. Oldham had to beat Southampton at home and hope Palace lost at Highbury to survive. We didn't think the game was important. [LNB] [LNB]'We didn't get smashed but just had a few short ones to relax us. There wasn't anything riding on the game for us but there was for Oldham. When you get to the last day of the season, everyone is looking forward to their summer break. I'm not sure that happens now.' [LNB]Le Tissier joked: 'Clearly having a couple of drinks worked because I scored a hat-trick - we just couldn't defend so maybe I wasn't the only one who had a few the night before.' [LNB]Then Palace goalkeeper Nigel Martyn added: 'What a horrible feeling it was when I knew we were down. I didn't know Matt went out the night before. My message to Matt: "Cheers, mate!"
