Midfielder Javier Mascherano is hoping to make his loan stay at Liverpool into a permanent transfer.
The Argentina international joined the Reds on an initial loan basis from third-party owners Media Sports Investments last January on an 18-month deal.
Mascherano has made 19 appearances since arriving at Anfield from an unhappy six-month spell at West Ham United and is keen to remain on Merseyside.
"Of course I would love to stay and I will do everything I can to see that this happens. It depends on what everyone decides at the end of the season," he said.
"I have just got to make sure everyone is happy with my performances and they want me to stay.
"From a personal point of view, I want to be here to play in the new stadium.
"We are already one of the greatest clubs in the world, but with the plans for the future we could become the world's greatest team."
