Masch welcomes Tevez talk

Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has welcomed reports linking compatriot Carlos Tevez with a move to Anfield.

Tevez, whose two-year loan deal with Manchester United is coming towards an end, has been linked with a summer switch to Merseyside.

The striker could again link-up with his Argentina international team-mate after the pair arrived together in England with West Ham United in summer 2006.

And Mascherano, who joined Liverpool in January 2007, would be delighted to be playing alongside his fellow South American again next season.

"It would be great to have Carlos here with me, I know how good he is," he said.

"But I don't really know what the situation is. It is certainly a difficult one.

"I don't know exactly what is happening. The only thing I can say is that he is a great player and a great person."
