Mario Gomez scuppers Liverpool loan move with £125,000 wage demands

[LNB]Mario Gomez's hopes of joining Liverpool on loan from Bayern Munich appear to have been scuppered.[LNB]The Germany international has been mulling a move to Anfield, but his £125,000 a week wages were a huge stumbling block and Bayern have indicated they aren't prepared to help push the deal through.[LNB]Roy Hodgson is desperate to sign a striker today and is still interest in West Ham's Carlton Cole, but Bayern Munich sporting director Christian Nerlinger said no players would be leaving his club.[LNB] Anfield target: Mario Gomez is wanted by Liverpool[LNB]'Bayern Munich are not a superstore for other clubs to come and helpthemselves to players,' he said. 'No player will be leaving and theywill certainly not be leaving on loan.'[LNB]The stance will be a blow to Gomez. The 25-year-old's agent UliFerber said: 'When a club like Liverpool enquires, their interestcannot be pushed off the table.'[LNB]Liverpool want a striker to take the burden off Fernando Torres'sshoulders. They have been rebuffed in their efforts to sign PSVEindhoven's Ola Toivonen but have some cash left over from JavierMascherano's sale to Barcelona.[LNB]They can offer around £6.5m for Cole but, while the player would want the move, West Ham will want a lot more cash..
