Marcelo wanted by Liverpool

Brendan Rodgers is looking to add strength and options for a left-back position that has so far left him frustrated after bids for Alberto Moreno and Marcos Rojo. The Mirror has reported that Rodgers has switched his attention to Brazilian left-back Marcelo with his first choice Ashley Cole looking an unlikely proposition.

Transferring Marcello to Anfield would cost £24million according to the report with the player becoming available after losing his spot to Fabio Coentrao at the Bernabeu. Marcelo is a first choice player for Brazil who will play Chile in the round of 16 on the 28th June at 5pm and will need to be at their best.

Brazil have failed to really impress so far at the World Cup and Marcelo scored the first goal for Brazil which happened to be an own goal against Croatia. Brazil have steadily improved as the tournament has gone on and have let in just one more goal since that game. It is understood that Spurs are also interested in the defender so Rodgers will need to finalise a deal if Marcelo isn’t to join the list of frustrating near-misses.
