[LNB]Torres must be hoping his fitness worries are behind him. He injured his thigh in the World Cup final after needing two knee operations during the season. [LNB]Yet the striker still managed to finish with 22 goals in 32 games in all competitions for his club, who finished a disappointing seventh in the table. [LNB]And Silva is worried that Torres, who came off the bench in the draw against Arsenal on Sunday, is getting his sharpness back and may be ready to make City suffer. [LNB]"I would rather play with Torres than against him, " Silva said. [LNB]"We all know that Fernando is a very good player. At any moment he can win the match." [LNB]Silva has started in City's first two games. He helped the team beat Timisoara 1-0 in the Europa League play-off first leg match on Thursday. [LNB]That victory came on the back of a goalless draw with Champions League contenders Tottenham at White Hart Lane. [LNB]Silva has a special reason for seeking success against Liverpool and added: "I want to win as it is the first home game. I hope we will start well." [LNB]Silva and Gareth Barry played only part of the game in Romania and manager Roberto Mancini believes his World Cup players still have a way to go to achieve peak fitness. [LNB]New captain Carlos Tevez as well as Kolo and Yaya Toure were also on duty in South Africa. [LNB]Mancini said: "Those who played in the first half like Gareth and David played well. But I think all the players who played in the World Cup need time (to build up their fitness). [LNB]"We also need time for the players to get to know each other and to improve as a team." [LNB]Mancini is hoping Mario Balotelli will be fit for the match. The former Inter Milan striker took a kick on the knee against Timisoara after scoring the winner on his debut. [LNB]Mancini insists the 20-year-old striker is on a learning curve in England. [LNB]"He is a good player, even though he is young, " added the City manager. "But he needs to know about the Premier League." [LNB][LNB]
