Man Utd and Liverpool on alert as David Villa hits out at Valencia boss
Manchester United and Liverpool have been put on red alert after long-term target David Villa criticised his Valencia boss Unai Emery. Villa hit out at the tactics of Emery after his side were held to a 2-2 draw at home by 10-man Sporting Gijon. The former Gijon striker scored both of his side's goals at the Mestalla, his second coming on the hour to put the hosts ahead against a side who played the final 64 minutes a man light after having Michel sent off. But Gregory levelled two minutes from time to bring an end to Valencia's perfect start to the season. 'The approach after the second goal wasn't right,' Villa told Canal Plus. 'We had chances but in the end, that's what happens. 'If we continue, we will be like last year. If we relax and draw against teams with 10 men, we won't go anywhere.' Emery, who withdrew the impressive Ever Banega in the second half, admitted his side's downfall came in the middle of the park. 'We lost control of the midfield and that's what led to the draw,' he told Marca. 'We tried to maintain our advantage but we should have gone for another goal.'
