Luis Suarez's Top Five Liverpool goals so far this season

There’s not been a lot for Liverpool fans to cheer about this season, shock exit from the FA Cup against Oldham and an exit from the Europa League that could have been avoided being two of an up and down season.

But with every cloud this is a silver lining, and Luis Suarez's displays in front of goal have been one of the main reason reds fans can live in hope. His skill, control and general ruthlessness in front of goal have all been exceptional this season and to mark this I’ve put together a compilation of my five favourite goals from the Uruguayan.

5. Sunderland (Premier League) - Wed 2 Jan

Luis Suarez took his Premier League tally to 15 goals for the season after scoring a brace to help Liverpool ease to victory against Sunderland.

Observing from the stands was new Anfield signing Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling's lobbed goal gave the Reds an early lead.

Suarez doubled Liverpool's advantage soon after, racing into the area before stabbing the ball home.

The Uruguayan then made it 3-0 early in the second half with a close-range strike from Steven Gerrard's pass.

4. Zenit (Europa League) - Thu 21 Feb

Liverpool were knocked out of the Europa League after a stunning second-leg comeback against Zenit St Petersburg fell just short of the mark. An untimely mistake from Jamie Carragher seemed to kill the last-32 meeting after Hulk latched onto his backpass for a vital away goal and a 3-0 lead.

But, roared on by the Anfield crowd, Luis Suarez slotted in a free-kick before Joe Allen prodded home.

Suarez struck a sensational second set-piece but Liverpool were unable to gain the crucial fourth goal they needed.

3. QPR (Premier League) - Sun 30 Dec

A woeful QPR display intensified their relegation fears as they were beaten by a Luis Suarez-inspired Liverpool on Sunday December 30th.

Reds' boss Brendan Rodgers was absent from the game with a bug but Suarez twice capitalised on poor defending to put the visitors 2-0 ahead.

He jinked past a defender and had a 20-yard shot parried away, before giving his side the lead when he eased past centre-back Clint Hill and slotted a shot into the bottom corner.

2. Man City (Premier League) - Sun 26 Aug

Martin Skrtel's calamitous late error gave Premier League champions Manchester City a point they barely deserved against Liverpool after a pulsating game at Anfield.

Suarez's precise free-kick restored Liverpool's advantage, but Skrtel's mistake handed City a reprieve in a moment that saw Rodgers slump into his seat on the sidelines in despair.

1. Newcastle United (Premier League) - Sun 4 Nov

Suarez scored a stunning goal as a dominant Liverpool were held to a point by 10-man Newcastle at Anfield.

The Uruguayan brilliantly controlled a long ball from Jose Enrique ball on his shoulder before rounding keeper Tim Krul and scoring with his third touch.

Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye showed the finishing prowess the Reds lacked in the first half when he powered in an acute angled strike before the break.
