Luis Suarez has dismissed talk in South America comparing the Liverpool forward to Barcelona and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi.

Suarez scored all of Uruguay's goals on Friday night as they stayed on top of their World Cup qualifying group with a 4-0 win over Chile.

A Facebook group has been set up called 'Luis Suarez the new Lionel Messi' and the 24-year-old Anfield striker has been left red-faced.

'Comparisons with Messi embarrass me,' Suarez said. 'It also makes me smile, but I feel the comparisons are just the reaction from the Uruguay fans as everything seems to be going well at the moment.

'I am happy, but we have to look at the work of the whole team as it is not just about one player.'
