Lucas remains positive
Lucas Leiva is hopeful that Liverpool can still claim fifth place in the Premier League and qualify for European football next season. The Brazilian midfielder praised Maxi Rodriguez for his hat-trick in Liverpool's 5-0 rout of Birmingham City. "Maxi had been out for a few games but he showed against Birmingham what’s he’s capable of doing," he said. "Everyone in the team knows he’s a worker and a really important player for us. "It wasn’t just his goals but his work rate. He’s always trying to play for the team. He had a very good afternoon and we are all so happy for him. "For him to come in and play like that, it shows that everyone is together. We are building confidence. "The way we are playing at the moment we deserve more than where we are. "We just have to try to win every game. If we do that it will be a happy end to the season and hopefully we’ll get fifth place."
