Lucas Leiva wants Leandro Damiao at Liverpool

Liverpool star Lucas Leiva has told the club to sign fellow countryman Leandro Damiao to bolster the Reds' front line, according to FourFourTwo.

The Reds are currently heavily reliant on the goals of Luis Suarez, having this summer loaned Andy Carroll to West Ham United while allowing Dirk Kuyt to join Fenerbahce and Craig Bellamy to permanently switch to Cardiff City. Something that concerned all Liverpool fans as Rodgers was unable to bring anyone in to the side.

Damiao scored six goals in six matches at this summer's Olympics and was tipped for a big money move to Tottenham and Arsenal. However, no deal was made and Damiao is still currently plying his trade in Brazil.

With just Luis Suarez and Fabio Borini on the cards, Rodgers will be desperate for some re-inforcements, after missing out on Clint Dempsey.

Lucas is now back in training following a three-month layoff caused by a thigh injury picked up in Liverpool's first Premier League home game of the season against Manchester City in August.
