Lucas backs Liverpool FC to continue resurgence

LUCAS today promised Liverpool will retain their relentless appetite for hard work as he reflected on a victory that drummed out a Champions League statement.[LNB]Dirk Kuyt was the Reds' hero at a raucous Anfield last night, scoring twice as they beat Tottenham 2-0 to move within a point off the top four.[LNB]It was a performance right up there with anything Rafa Benitez's men have produced in this topsy-turvy campaign and again showed why it would be foolish to discount them.[LNB]The Brazilian midfielder, however, was quick to point out Liverpool are certainly not out of danger yet and only a consistent reproduction of this effort will be good enough.[LNB]That is why Lucas - who was once again terrific last night - stressed the most difficult part of the season is yet to come and only total commitment will be good enough.[LNB]'It was a really important win,' said Lucas. 'We knew before the game that we had an opportunity to get just one point behind Tottenham and be close to the top four.[LNB]'We know this season has been not so good but we have to keep this momentum and attitude and we had talked about it in the dressing room before hand.[LNB]'We need to make sure we keep the intensity up that we showed against Stoke and Tottenham; if we do that, we will be there at the end, for sure.
