Liverpool's Nuri Sahin is hoping to be used in his favoured position

Nuri Sahin admits he is still getting to grips with life in England and would prefer to be used in his favoured position by Liverpool.

The Turkey international arrived at Anfield over the summer with a big reputation, with his ability enough to have taken him from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid. He has struggled to produce his best form for the Reds but feels he is improving with each passing appearance. Sahin is, however, of the opinion he would find it easier to shine if he was deployed as a holding midfielder on a more regular basis, rather than as a creative playmaker.

"I've played my whole career deeper and that's my position," he told Liverpool's official matchday programme.

"But I have also played as a No.10 here. It was new for me but I tried to help the team and do my best.

"But if could choose a position, it would be holding as I feel more comfortable playing deeper.

"Knowledge While still finding his feet on Merseyside, Sahin believes he made the right decision in linking up with Liverpool on a season-long loan. He added:

"I came here because the manager told me how he wanted to play and it's important for a player to have that knowledge.

"You have to make the right choice because I'm not the kind of player who can play in a long-ball side.

"The way that Brendan (Rodgers) wants to play is one I'm comfortable with."
