Barca have been linked with a £20 million bid for the Argentina international, and have reportedly already made contact with the player's advisors. Mascherano's agent, Walter Tamer, said: "If a club like Barcelona want you after winning everything, obviously a player will say he wants to play there. "It would make Javier proud to play for them after they've had such an incredible year. "I believe a transfer can be done. I've spoken to (Barcelona technical director) Txiki Beguiristain about this although we've not been in contact for some time." Tamer also revealed that the possibilty of playing for Barca has been discussed with Mascherano at length. He said: "At Barcelona he would have a very easy job. At times we joke because the only thing he would have to do there is to run, steal the ball and give it to one of their stars." Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will do all he can to hold on to Mascherano, especially with Xabi Alonso linked with a £23m move to Real Madrid. However, the lure of teaming up with Xavi and Andres Iniesta could prove impossible to turn down for the combative Argentine.
