Brendan Rodgers Liverpool have agreed a 'deal in principle' to bring Mateo Kovacic from Milan to Merseyside, according to Gazetta dello Sport today.

The Italian paper suggest that the Reds have finally reached an agreement in principle to bring heavily linked Kovacic to Liverpool. A fee or around £17million is being touted by Gazetta, which is more than Liverpool were looking to pay, but less than Inter wanted for the 21-year-old.

Gazetta dello Sport quote comments from Kovacic's international manager Niko Kovac which they say suggest the deal is all but done:

"I do not know the future of Kovacic, but I would be happy for him if he went to play in a club more that's important."

Further evidence of the Kovacic deal being done comes as Gazetta state that Inter are already spending the cash they'll receive from Liverpool.

The Kovacic signing will be a breath of fresh air to Liverpool fans after mixed reaction to the triple Bosman signing of Danny Ings, James Milner and Adam Bogdan.
