Liverpool without Javier Mascherano and Yossi Benayoun
Mascherano, a late substitute for Steven Gerrard in Saturday's 6-1 hammering of Hull, is suffering from sickness, while in-form winger Benayoun picked up a thigh injury in the same match. Neither travelled to Italy with the squad. Liverpool manager Rafa Benítez would have liked to bring Mascherano back into the starting line-up, but it is now likely that Albert Riera will retain his place. 'It is similar to last season we are creating more or less the same situations but now we are scoring more goals because the accuracy is better," said Benítez, who believes his players are better for their title run-in with United last term. "It is true we score a lot of goals. It's funny because people were talking before about us needing to score more goals because we were good in defence.
