Liverpool told Falcao is on the move
Liverpool’s audacious enquiry after the Colombian goal-machine does show a certain ambition which will be encouraging to the fans but any potential deal appears shrouded in mixed messages with the latest suggesting the player is promised to another.
The Reds are of course in need of a high-calibre replacement for Suarez and have Champions League football to provide a suitable stage to attract the best players in the world. The enquiry, if that’s all it was would have certainly wowed the faithful so fair play to those involved. According to a report in the Mirror the Monaco top brass have advised Liverpool that the player was heading ‘elsewhere’.
Earlier today Liverpool were said to be in pole position to land their first ‘Marquee’ signing of the new season with Man City thought also to be in the running but there has been little detail on what any potential deal could look like.
A report today in the Independent quotes Gazzetta dello Sport who revealed just yesterday that Man City were keen on bringing Falcao to the Etihad on loan and it seems the loan option pervades most of the interest presumably with many clubs finding themselves wary of FFP restrictions so considering deferring payment by using the loan option this window.
If reports are true that a Falcao deal is already done then it’s difficult to see much beyond the early interest shown by Real Madrid in particular who do seem to be the best candidates for ‘elsewhere’ with reports of a 10m loan deal. Aiding the cause of a Liverpool move would be tweets revealed in the Independent by a respected Italian journalist Mina Rzouki who has suggested that the Merseyside club are in the frame to land something of a coup.
