Liverpool start League Cup defence at Albion
The draw gives Liverpool, who defeated Cardiff on penalties to win last season's final, a chance for revenge over Albion after Steve Clarke's side thrashed the Reds 3-0 at the Hawthorns on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season.
Clarke was assistant manager to Kenny Dalgish during Liverpool's successful League Cup campaign last season, but was sacked along with Dalglish ahead of new boss Brendan Rodgers' arrival at Anfield in the close-season.
United, surprisingly beaten by Championship club Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals last season, will take on Alan Pardew's Newcastle at Old Trafford.
Premier League champions Manchester City host Aston Villa, while Arsenal take on League One club Coventry at the Emirates Stadium.
European champions Chelsea are at home to Championship club Wolves, who were the last side to book their place in the third round with victory over Northampton on Thursday.
Andre Villas-Boas' Tottenham make the trip to Carlisle, while Everton have a tough tie at Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds.
QPR and Reading face off at Loftus Road and West Ham welcome Wigan in the two remaining all Premier League encounters.
Martin O'Neill's Sunderland head to Milton Keynes Dons, with Southampton hosting their former manager Dave Jones as he returns to St Mary's with Championship club Sheffield Wednesday.
