Liverpool FC's Albert Riera facing Rafa Benitez’s wrath after outburst in Spanish press
Published: 18 Mar 2010 - 10:00:00
Albert Riera ALBERT RIERA will be heavily fined after launching a blistering attack on Rafa Benitez on the eve of Liverpool's most important game of the season. Out-of-favour winger Riera - who has only played a bit part role this season due to injury and lack of form - claimed Benitez is 'deaf' to the needs of his players. It is the second time during this campaign that Riera has gone public with his grievances and it means he will be hit heavily in the pocket. When Ryan Babel used the social networking website Twitter to reveal he had been left out of the squad to face Stoke City in January, he was fined two weeks' wages. Riera, who fears his dreams of going to the World Cup with Spain are in jeopardy, can expect to receive similar censure and is likely to be moved on when the summer transfer window opens. 'When the coach doesn't say anything to you and you are in good shape with no physical problems and training well, you have no choice but to think the fact you are not playing is personal,' Riera told Spanish Radio station Marca. 'The team is playing badly and needs changes. If I'm doing something badly and you're my boss and you trust in me, then you would tell me what I am doing wrong and what I have to do to play.
