Liverpool could recall Andy Carroll, fear West Ham

The West Ham hierarchy are in talks with their legal team to ensure they retain the services of Andy Carroll as Liverpool continue to search for a front man.Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is light up top after allowing Carroll to join West Ham on loan last week and failing to land a replacement before the transfer window closed on Friday.

West Ham hope to retain the services of Andy Carroll   There is speculation that Liverpool could recall their £35million loan striker in January, but the Hammers believe they have a watertight deal that will scupper such plans. The Londoners also believe the deal protects them from Liverpool selling Carroll to anyone other than themselves. It is reported that there is a clause in the contract that states the initial agreement with Carroll depends on the Hammers 'not being relegated'.

A source at West Ham told The Sun: 'We have a deal which allows us to buy him tomorrow at around £17-£18million if we chose to. 'We are convinced Andy cannot be sold to any other club. We have him on a year’s loan with the first option to buy but have called in the legal eagles to check everything.' Rodgers is desperate to fill the void left by Carroll at Anfield. The club have been linked with free agents such as Emile Heskey and Michael Owen - both of whom would be returning to the club.

Carroll was in great form against Fulham on Saturday before he was injured later on Carroll, meanwhile, made his debut in West Ham's impressive 3-0 victory over Fulham. The 23-year-old was in devastating form as her ran centre halves Brede Hangeland and Aaron Hughes ragged before being substituted through injury in the second half.
