Liverpool close in on Saints star Lambart?

This is what we love about the transfer window, things happen that we just don't see coming and I certainly didn't see this one. According to sky sources Liverpool have bid around 9 million pounds for the services of Ricky Lambart and are very close to a deal already.

If this is genuine information and I think its safe to say it is then I’m putting this down to a very clever bit of business by Brendan Rogers. I think opinions will be split on this, but I would say this is a very positive move by the Reds. Its clear Liverpool are looking to bolster their attacking options and although he doesn't necessarily fit the profile of young talent he’s definitely a player that can offer something different upfront. Liverpool have been sensational to watch, scoring over 100 goals in a season but it was still clear there were something missing coming to the close season.

Lambarts height could be a major factor for Liverpool, standing at (6 ft 2 in) and being so prolific in the air it could be just what the Reds need. The strike force just seemed to run out of steam towards the end and it makes you wonder if Lambart was on the bench then just maybe we would have been celebrating a first league title in 24 years. Don't get me wrong its all ifs and buts in football but it does make you think. Lets not forget Lambart was born and raised on Merseyside and was a Liverpool player at the age of 10 and was released when he was 15 so you’d think a move to the Anfield giants would appeal to him and of course it could well be his last chance to play Champions League football.

Another player looking Anfield bound at the moment is the talented 21 year old left back Alberto Moreno from Sevilla. Sky sources claims that Liverpool have bid around 20 million pounds for the Spanish defender, who as a contract with Sevilla until 2018. The Merseyside outfit will be looking to tie up a deal pretty quickly for the defender as he looks likely to be involved with Spain in the world cup and if its a successful one then his price tag could well rise drastically.
