Liverpool win the race for Jovanovic as Serbia striker signs three-year deal

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has pipped his old club Valencia in the racefor Milan Jovanovic after the Serbia striker signed a three-yearcontract with an option for a further 12 months.

After theStandard Liege striker put his name to the deal and faxed it back toAnfield, his agent Zoran Stojadinovic contacted Valencia to inform themthey had missed out.

Jovanovic will join Liverpool on a free transferin the summer.

The 28-year-old's agent, Zoran Stojadinovic, said: 'We have spoken with Rafa Benitez and he convinced us about his project for the club.

'Milan speaks the language and adaptation will not be a problem for him when he moves to England.'
