Liverpool are closing in on Blackpool starlet Thomas Ince, as the club look to set to re-sign the forward after he left Anfield 16 months ago for a compensation fee of just £250,000, according to The Liverpool Echo.

The Reds are in negotiation with the Seasiders and hope the prolific 20 year old will be their first major signing this January, as they look to minimize the goal scoring burden of Luiz Suarez. Ince has scored 13 goals this season for Blackpool, and has been linked with a plethora of clubs all desperate for his signature.

Manchester United are also in the hunt for Tom Ince, son of Manchester United legend Paul Ince, and are also ready to offer the Seasiders in the region of £4million pound.

Blackpool value Ince at £6million, but Liverpool look most likely to re-sign the forward as the Anfield club would be able to get a significant discount – as they secured a 35% sell-on clause.

Blessed with great pace and skill, he has also demonstrated remarkable composure and intelligence in the final third.

Now regarded as one of the best young talents in the country, he has netted 19 league goals in 41 league starts for Blackpool.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate to add goals to his squad and Ince fits the profile he’s looking for.
