Liverpool will challenge for the title this season

Liverpool were very unlucky to not get a result against Arsenal last weekend and although I’m very disappointed that the reds will not be lifting the FA cup this season I think its slightly encouraging for our league campaign. Liverpool can concentrate solely on the Premier League and are now in a fantastic position to capture that top four position.

I personally don't think there is any doubt that Liverpool will be playing Champions League football next season and where we are now I’d be thinking forget top four, we can win it.

Every other team at that top will be playing Champions League, FA cup or League cup games from now till the end of the season and this could be the key factor weather Liverpool will lift the Premier League trophy.

Our rival sides are doing exactly what I said they would do and are dropping points and of course all the top teams have got to come to Anfield yet so this could be a major factor on who will lift that League trophy at the end of the season.

My only worry for Liverpool at the minute is they just cannot keep a clean sheet and if they are going to realise their dream this season they do have to really tighten up at the back.

One thing we did against Fulham was show our grit, determination and fighting spirit to kill the game off, which is something we have failed to do in recent years. This sent out a clear message to our rivals and I think they are looking at us as possible title challengers.

Don't get me wrong, its going to be so tough and we will be relying on other results to go our way. These next few games will determine if we are going to be there in the closing season and if our key players are firing on all cylinders and we tighten it up at the back, then for me, will be in contention.
