In last week's first-leg the Reds could not find a way past a spirited French side, eventually conceding a late goal from impressive Belgian youngster Eden Hazard.

Rafael Benitez will be looking to make home advantage count in tonight's game, but he will be well aware that the threat of conceding a dangerous away goal could make it a difficult night for his side.

The Merseysiders warmed up for the must win clash with a 4-1 hammering of crisis club Portsmouth on Monday night, with Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel and Alberto Aquilani all on the score sheet.

Despite bagging his first goal for the club on Monday, Aquilani could miss out tonight as he recovers from a virus.

Maxi Rodriguez is ineligible after appearing for Atletico Madrid earlier in the competition while Martin Skrtel and Fabio Aurelio will both be absent with foot and thigh injuries respectively.

Benitez has assured the club's fans that his players are well aware of the importance of tonight's game.

He said: "They know it's the last opportunity to win a trophy.

"The main thing is to score and after that a clean sheet. We will try to look for both things.

"The first way is to win this game and progress in this competition."

Lille visit Anfield on the back of a hard-fought 1-0 win over bottom club Grenoble on Sunday afternoon.

Currently fourth in Ligue 1, Rudi Garcia's side sit just two points off top-spot with ten games still left to play.

And although they head into tonight's fixture with a narrow advantage, Les Dogues know they have their work cut-out to stop the likes of Torres and Steven Gerrard on their own turf.

Garcia will be without the services of defensive pair Nicolas Plestan and Mathieu Debuchy, while forwards Tulio de Melo and Gervinho will also miss out.
