Match Preview

Jekyll and Hyde side Blackburn Rovers visit Anfield on Sunday looking to build on successive victories against Hull City and Bolton Wanderers.

However, both of those wins have come at Fortress Ewood Park while on their travels they have only secured one victory.

Twenty-eight of the 34 points they have gained this term have come at home with the only away success coming at Bolton in November.

Allardyce's side have scored only eight times in those 13 away matches but, as they are now 11 points clear of the relegation zone, may adopt a more attacking philosophy on the road in the last three months of the season, starting at Anfield.

Rovers have suffered several heavy away losses this term though, notably at Arsenal (6-2), Chelsea (5-0) and Manchester City (4-1) with their trip to Stoke City earlier this month also ending badly as they slumped to a 3-0 loss.

Christopher Samba is available after serving his two-match ban but David Dunn may miss out again as he attempts to prove his fitness following a calf problem.

Rafa Benitez may have arrested Liverpool's slide but there is still little style or flair within the Reds ranks as they grind out performances that may yet see them clinch fourth spot.

They may be tired following their midweek trip to Romania for a Europa League last-32 second leg clash with Unirea Urziceni though and goals remain a problem - they have managed only three in their last five league matches.

However, Fernando Torres made a substitute appearance in the grim goalless draw at Manchester City last Sunday and could feature against Rovers as the Reds attempt to build on a sequence of just one league defeat, at Arsenal, in their nine matches since Christmas.

Sotirios Kyrgiakos is suspended following his red card against Everton while Glen Johnson could come into contention following his long lay-off with a knee problem.
