Liverpool turn to Serie A striker to solve striker issues

Brendan Rodgers Liverpool have expressed an interest in bringing Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez to the Premier League, as the Reds look to bolster their out of sorts attackers.

Reports on Italian site Tuttomercatoweb this morning suggest that Gomez will be leaving the Florence side this summer, and with Liverpool in need of a new striker, it could be a match made in heaven.

The former Bayern Munich man is keen to leave Fiorentina, with a lack of playing time pushing Gomez to search for a club where he'll get more opportunity.

The Champions League winner still managed a 10-goal return for the Viola this season, despite limited minutes on the pitch, and his formidable record in German football shows why Liverpool are interested in the striker.

Former goalscorer of the year Gomez has bagged a career total of 235 goals in 420 games, and at 29-years-old Gomez still has time to make an impact at Anfield.
