Liverpool to offer Napoli swap deal for Higuain

Could the Argentina and Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain be trading in his sky blue shirt for a red one in January?

According to a Brazilian paper this could well be the case.

Zero Hora (requires translation) claim Liverpool offered Lucas Leiva plus £22m to Napoli for Gonzalo Higuain during the last transfer window.

The Reds have repeatedly been linked with the Argentina international and there have already been rumours of a deal possible happening in January.

It is well know that Lucas Leiva was on Rafa Benitez’s wish-list over the summer, but a deal could not be struck between the clubs.

It was Benitez who brought Lucas to the Premier League in 2007 and a reunion between the pair could be on the horizon.

Higuain has yet to score this season but did manage to score 17 league goals last season for the Naples club.
