After the signing of Sadio Mane, Liverpool have shown their ambition to be more competitive in the Premier League as well as European competition but reports today suggest they are not done and could compete for the £38m-rated Marek Hamsik.

The report which comes from Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello via the Liverpool Echo Sport suggests the Napoli midfielder is being pursued by both Liverpool and Bayern Munich and we will see how deep Anfield pockets will be especially after the capture of Mane.

The 28-year-old Slovakian will be a familiar name to UK audiences with his performances at Euro 2016 and a move to the Premier League outfit could raise his profile further.

Hamsik joined Napoli from Brescia in 2007 and has gone on to make 319 league appearances for the Serie A side, scoring 81 goals. Known for his versatility and work-rate the player does fit with the pressing game of Klopp and could prove a very valuable if expensive asset for the Reds in their quest for Champions League football.

The midfielder cost Napoli just 5.5m euros back in 2007 and a sale would provide considerable return on that investment but we would expect Munich to be favourites.
