Impressive: Danny Wilson[LNB] Rangers could strike a deal with Liverpool that would see them sell teenage defender Danny Wilson to Anfield in the summer and bring him back to Ibrox on loan next season.[LNB] The talented 18-year-old was injured in a bounce game with Celtic on Tuesday and is likely to miss what's left of the SPL campaign - but his future remains a hot topic.[LNB] A projected £3million transfer has been the subject of preliminary talks between the Glasgow and Merseyside clubs after Rafa Benitez set his sights on the youngster.[LNB] Rangers still hope Wilson, who has 14 months left on his existing deal, will accept a new contract that would increase any future fee for his services. But Sportsmail has learned that one idea being floated is for the player to be loaned back to Ibrox during his first season at Liverpool.[LNB] It could prove an attractive proposition, because even though central defender Andy Webster will be back in Govan next season following his successful loan spell at Dundee United, there is no guarantee that skipper David Weir will return for another season after his 40th birthday.[LNB] Madjid Bougherra's appearance at this summer's World Cup in South Africa could also lead to lucrative offers and a swift exit for the Algerian centre-back, leaving Smith's men short of cover.[LNB] Wilson, who has been nominated for the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award, will have a scan today on a muscle problem which could prematurely end a sensational debut campaign in Walter Smith's first team and see him miss out on playing his part in a potential title party at Easter Road this Sunday.[LNB] [LNB]Pledge: Jim O'Brien[LNB]With Weir one of six players nearing the end of their contracts at Ibrox, Rangers are already looking at potential summer signings. A number of SPL players are on their radar including Motherwell's Jim O'Brien, Dundee United pair David Goodwillie and Craig Conway, plus Hamilton's James McArthur.[LNB] Meanwhile, former Celtic player O'Brien, 22, who is nearing the endof his Fir Park contract, has committed his future to Craig Levein'sScotland despite having been capped by the Republic of Ireland atUnder-21 level. [LNB]Vale of Leven-born O'Brien, who played forScotland Under-17s before switching his allegiance to Ireland andrepresenting their under-19s, said: 'It's something I looked into andhad a long think about. I have decided to make myself available forselection for Scotland in future.[LNB] 'A chance came up to play for Ireland and I wanted to do that for my grandfather. But your situation changes and, with Craig getting the job, I wanted to work with him again.'
