Liverpool set to sign Brazilian Star?

Liverpool look set to sign Brazilian central midfielder Hernanes from Lazio before the January transfer window closes next week. However the Italian club, who currently sit 9th in Serie A, are demanding upwards of £15m for the talented playmaker. Club president Claudio Lotito has suggested only a sizeable offer will interest Lazio, telling TMW: "I do not want to sell him, we will have to receive an indecent offer - £15m will not be enough."

Hernanes himself has attempted to downplay any transfer speculation in a professional manner this week. "I do not want to hear these stories, I want to focus on my work and help the team," he said. However with Lazio languishing in mid-table and Liverpool challenging for a Champions League spot it is hard to believe that the 28 year old could not be tempted to a move to Anfield after four years with the side from Rome.

Liverpool’s chances of signing Hernanes are further boosted by the presence of fellow Brazilians Lucas Leiva and Philippe Coutinho, both of whom could aid his acclimatisation to English football.
