Liverpool set to make 'marquee' Reus signing

After losing Luis Suarez to Barcelona Liverpool fans really need something to make them smile again and there’s no better way to make any football fans smile then by their club announcing a big name signing.

It seems that Brendan Rodgers has set his sights to the Bundesliga and has earmarked Marco Reus as that big name.

Skybet have slashed the odds overnight on a possible bid from Liverpool for the Borussia Dortmund star.

The reds were 14/1, but late last night odds were slashed to 4/1 for Reus to make the switch from his native Germany to Merseyside.

Twitter last night went into meltdown as rumours concerning a bid of £45m to bring the 25-year-old German star to the Premier League was about to happen.

Spanish journalist @Kike_Marin_ last night "Y hablando de Reus, el #Arsenal tanteó su fichaje, pero ahora es el #Liverpool quien parece que puede ofrecer hasta £45m al #Dortmund por él"

This loosely translates to "speaking of Reus, Arsenal are uncertain over his move, but now it's Liverpool who seem to be offering up to £45m to sign him from Dortmund".

Reus missed out on Germany’s World Cup-winning campaign through injury (June) but is expected to be back August/early Sept time so if he did sign Liverpool fans would have to wait a month or so to see German in action.

The Guardian reports that a dream move to Barcelona collapsed after the Catalans opted to sign Suárez from Liverpool instead so there is the possibility that Reus could be tempted into moving away from Dortmund.
