Liverpool set to make bid for Aston Villa Striker Bent

Liverpool have made enquiries about the services of Aston Villa Striker Darren Bent.

According to Click Liverpool, the 27 year old forward is to be used to generate funds to help Alex Mcleish rebuild the midlands team.

There has been speculation growing about Bents future after injury caused the striker to miss the clash with the reds earlier this month ... yet he was photographed shopping in Cambridge the same day.

Liverpool would face competition for the England strikers signature from the likes of Fulham and QPR but could afford the mooted £18million figure being thrown around.

His likely link-up with former team mate Stewart Downing could be key to Liverpool's tilt to regain Champions League football.
