Javier Mascherano's agent could have landed the Liverpool player with a fine by inviting Barcelona to make a move for the midfielder. Anfield boss Rafa Benitez insists neither the Argentine nor midfield partner Xabi Alonso - a target for Real Madrid - are for sale. Barca have identified Mascherano as one of the few players in the world who could improve their stellar midfield and his agent Walter Tamer yesterday said the 25-year-old would say yes to a move. Benitez is ready to fine the former West Ham player, according to the Daily Mirror, as he tries to quell speculation surrounding his players. Barcelona will start the bidding at £22m for Mascherano, while Madrid hope to get Spain international Alonso - also a target for Manchester City - for £20m.
