Liverpool on red alert for unhappy Higuain

Reports coming out of Italy suggest that the Argentine striker is less than content with the situation at Napoli with rotation meaning the player is spending more time on the fringes of the squad.

The former Real Madrid striker is capable of scoring twenty goals a season and for that reason is of interest to both Liverpool and Spurs in the Premier League say reports.

Gonzalo Higuain joined Real Madrid in 2007 where he made 190 appearances and scored 107 goals for the Spanish giants, becoming available to other clubs again in 2013. Much speculation linked Higuain with a move to either Arsenal or Napoli but Napoli sealed a five-year deal for the striker worth 40million Euros.

The 27-year-old is under pressure to perform with the rise of Duvan Zapata fuelling speculation that the player could be cashed-in with the January window says reports with Higuain being sidelined for the third time in four games in all competitions.

Rafa Benitez did make a statement to fend-off increasing speculation surrounding the two strikers, saying:

"Can Higuain and Zapata play together? Yes, it’s a possibility and we did that a few times during games, but it can be an option when starting too."

Liverpool would probably need to sell misfiring Mario Balotelli to fund any move for Higuain and you feel that time is against them in their quest to join the European elite competition unless of course they win the Europa League.
