Liverpool are hoping secure the signature of Ukrainian attacker Yevhen Konoplyanka from Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk before the end of the January transfer window in a deal that could cost in excess of £15m.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers revealed last night in the post-match against Everton that the Reds were still hopeful of landing a "major signing" and have opened talks with the 24-year-old's club.

The versatile Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk forward is a name England fans might remember as he's the man who scored and shone against England at Wembley in the World Cup qualifying campaign. (As seen below)

So far this season the winger has played 23 games, and contributed to 14 goals (9 scored, 5 assisted).

Konoplyanka has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League since impressing at Euro 2012 with Manchester United and Arsenal among his suitors.

Liverpool hope to conclude negotiations swiftly for the 24-year-old having been foiled by Chelsea in their pursuit for Mohammed Salah as they look to build on the momentum of their Merseyside derby victory.
