Liverpool looking to offload Borini in swap deal for Adam Johnson

After what proved to be another disappointing transfer window for Liverpool, manager Brendan Rodgers is already looking towards strengthening his squad this summer.

In-form Sunderland and England winger, Adam Johnson is rumoured to be the current main target for Rodgers, especially after the Reds lost out on both Mohamed Salah and Yevhen Konoplyanka last month.

Johnson has been in top form recently for Sunderland, netting six goals in his last five appearances. He is also expected to play an integral role in England’s 2014 World Cup finals squad.

Fabio Borini, who is currently on loan at Sunderland from Liverpool, would be used as part exchange for Johnson, if Rodgers is to seriously pursue the signature of 26-year-old Johnson. Borini, who failed to have any real impact at Anfield, scoring only twice in twenty appearances, has been showing some decent form of late for Gus Poyet’s side, picking up five goals in twenty four games for the Black Cats this season.

It’s early doors yet to really speculate about what summer transfers will take place, but it is guaranteed that top of Liverpool's priority list will be a top class winger and at least one high quality defender.
