Liverpool looking good ahead of Premier League kick off

Is the doom and gloom over the red half of Liverpool to be lifted? I can’t remember when Liverpool were the biggest team in English football but I have been assured they were. I remember Liverpool playing nice football but not really getting anywhere with it. Is that coming to an end?

Liverpool dominated English football in the 80’s until the might of Manchester United took over. Since then they have been a team who were always in the top four, however in recent seasons Liverpool haven’t looked capable of a top four finish. When Rafa Benitez was at the helm, Liverpool were always a threat to any team, but through the reigns of Roy Hodgson and Kenny Dalglish they have dropped and dropped.

Is Brendan Rodgers the man to guide Liverpool back to the top of English football? He has got Liverpool playing some beautiful football and during the second half of last season they were arguably the best team in the premier league. He added Phillipe Coutinho to the squad in January 2013 and he was a revelation. For a 21 year old to come to the premier league and not look out of place takes someone of a special talent, the signing of Daniel Sturridge also was a stroke of genius. Rodgers has also added to his squad over the summer with a mixture of youth and experience, Kolo Toure, Simon Mignolet, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto all coming to Merseyside. All these signing will make for an interesting season for Liverpool FC.

If somehow Rodgers can convince Luis Suarez to stay also Liverpool may well find themselves competing in the Champions League once again very soon.
